Reflecting back on 2022

Hello everyone, it really blows me away how fast this year is slowly coming to an end. Today I have been doing a lot of reflecting on what this year 2022 has happened to me. This year was a big one for both me and Matthew. We both turned 30. His birthday was in January and mine was in May. We got to do a few different trips this year with our family. We went to Hawaii in March with his family. It was a really nice trip. First trip outside of Canada since 2020. We mostly got to relax on this trip which was a much needed vacation. If you want to know more from that trip you can go back to the blog post that I wrote about it from this year. Our next trip that we went on was at Adam Lake where my aunt and uncle live. This was during the July long weekend. It was great to see family who I haven’t seen since our wedding which was back in September 2018. That trip was mainly just getting to have lots of fun playing games, going out on the water in my uncle’s boat. I got to try wakesurfing for the first time. It was so much fun. I almost got up on the board. I also went paddle boarding a few times while we were there. There’s nothing like being out on the water on a beautiful day. Our next family trip was with Matthew’s family we went to Texada Island to visit his grandma and see his family that we don’t get to visit with very often. It was my first time getting to see Texada Island, I’ve been to a few other different places on Vancouver Island, but never the other islands near by. Our last family trip that we got to do this year was Canim Lake with my family. This trip was in August. It’s on family trip that I always look forward to every year. We got to go for a whole week this year, which was awesome. Being able to spend time with family or do our own thing was great. We did lots of fishing there mostly off of the dock but we also went fishing on my dads boat as well. We didn’t catch much on dads boat but we manage to catch more fish off the dock. They were only little fish that we had to throw back out into the lake but it was still a lot of fun. One of my favourite things about going to Canim Lake is that we really get to unplug because there’s no cell service. We also got to go paddle boarding on the lake. I like to sit on the paddle board instead like kayaking. I didn’t do as much reading on this trip like I normally do but I did get to have a lot of naps when I wanted. The last trip that we got to do this year was going to Toronto for the SCSC Global Symposium. This trip was in October. It was so nice to see some familiar faces from the last one we attended from back in 2019. There was so many incredible speakers that I was blown away by. I really also enjoyed the breakout session that we had. Everyone had very similar views on the topics that were being discussed. I always learn so much when we go to the symposium.

This year Matthew and I celebrated our four year wedding anniversary. We also got to do other fun things this year like go to play land which we both haven’t been there for a long time. We also got to go watch an Abbotsford Canucks game. This year we spent a lot of time with our family not only on trips but also over the holidays which is always nice. This year I did lots of reading which I really enjoy when I get my down time. I also got to do horseback riding and volunteer at my riding stable which makes me so happy. This year I have been working hard on a special project that I have been working on for the last two years. I was really hoping to finish it by the end of this year but unfortunately I’m still working on it. I am trying my best not to beat myself up that I didn’t get to complete the goal that I made for myself this year. I know that once I finally get it finished it will be worth it and I will be happy with all the hard work that I am putting in to it. One thing I know that I didn’t do a lot was posting on my blog this year. I hope to get back to it next year. Overall for this year I think it was a good year. I have learned a lot and I have grown a lot this year as well. I am really looking forward to 2023. I have a few exciting things that I get to look forward to for next year. I am also looking forward to whatever else comes my way in 2023. I hope that 2022 was a good year for everyone else. I also hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. I am wishing everyone a wonderful, healthy and a happy new year. Well that’s all for me until next year.
